ABOUT
The Family Resource Center’s mission is to help families in times of need and stress in order to promote healthy, thriving families that support child development and success. The Center uses a Strengthening Families approach by encouraging parental resilience, creating an atmosphere for social connection, providing concrete support in times of need, promoting parenting and child development, and understanding social and emotional competence of children.
Parents can visit the Family Resource Center and talk with a Family Resource Worker about resources they need, such as housing, food, employment, childcare, healthcare, and more. The knowledgeable staff will guide parents to resources in the community and help them through the many processes that some of these resources entail. Parents can feel free to bring their children to the Family Resource Center. The Center has a large playroom to occupy children during meetings or to utilize and learn together.
The Family Resource Center is a new program started in 2011 in partnership with the Department of Children and Families and the Children’s Trust Fund. The Center is a part of Jamaica Plain’s Tree of Life/Arbol de Vida.
